Golf outing to benefit officer

A golf outing to benefit a Three Rivers police officer is scheduled to take place next week.

Wednesday’s benefit will take place at Island Hills Golf Club in Centreville, to benefit T.J. Baker and his family.

Baker, a past “Investigator of the Year” recipient by county prosecutor John McDonough, was diagnosed in May 2013 with a rare form of cancer. To help keep the cancer from spreading, his left arm was amputated last month and doctors and his family said he faces a long recovery.

Baker’s insurance coverage will soon be exhausted. As a result, Baker and his family will have to cover expenses.

Wednesday’s outing is being assembled with the help of St. Joseph County United Way. The agency may be reached at 467-9099. Any financial support donated to the United Way must be designated to T.J. Baker Fund.
