Gretchen Webb, age 66 of Colon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her home.
Gretchen was born Nov. 13, 1947, a, daughter of the late Edward and Jane (Decrocker) Ullom. She spent most for her life in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School Colon in 1966. Gretchen continued her education at Kalamazoo Practical Nursing School, graduating with an LPN degree in 1967. She later attended Glenn Oaks Community College, where she earned an RN degree in 2000.
On June 23, 1973, she married Norman Webb in Kalamazoo. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2012.
She loved going out with her girlfriends to the movies, playing bingo and going to the casino, but most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Gretchen had worked in nursing for 46 years in Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor and Coldwater, retiring from Community Health Center of Branch County earlier this year.
She is survived by three sons, Rob (Dory) Webb of East Leroy, David (Mary) Webb of Colon and Jeff Webb; a daughter, Belinda McDougal of Kalamazoo; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Krystal, Madison, Georgie and Austin.
Gretchen was preceded in death by a brother, William Ullom.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Gretchen Webb will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the funeral home with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Cremation will be held at a later date, with private burial of ashes in Lakeside Cemetery. If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Gretchen either to the Colon Fire and Rescue Department, Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater or Branch County Community Health Center Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
