Karry Ellen Bickel, age 69, of Mendon, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at her home. She was born in Cadillac on Oct. 26, 1943 one of twelve children of Hallett Herr and Hazel Marie (Sheldon) Bickel. She graduated from Cadillac High School in 1963 and soon after moved to the Mendon area. Karry had worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Kalamazoo for over thirty years, retiring due to poor health. She enjoyed travel, gardening, knitting and craft work, and was a light-house enthusiast.
Karry is survived by 1 sister, Imogene Bickel of Vicksburg; 3 brothers, Calvin (Phyllis) Bickel of Cadillac, Ivan (Jacque) Bickel of Huntsville, TX, and Stanley (Judy) Bickel of Mendon; several nieces and nephews including Jean Bickel of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Donald (Ethel) Bickel, Melvin (Betty) Bickel, John (Doris) Bickel, and Rollin Bickel; 3 sisters, Maxine (Wally) Chaykowski, Kathryn (Kenny) Martinson, and Paula Faye Bickel.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday July 8th at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday July 9th at the Three Rivers Bible Church with Pastor Jay Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to serves at the church. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that memorials be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, or to the American Diabetes Association.
