Puppy abandoned in Burr Oak

The Animal Rescue Fund of St. Joseph County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the identity and prosecution of the party responsible for leaving a puppy abandoned in the village of Burr Oak.

ARF officials said a Sturgis resident was at Railroad Park when she noticed a box with holes in its side last Tuesday near the Burr Oak Post Office.

Up-Cycled Pets, a St. Joseph County-based animal-rescue group, sought veterinary care for the puppy, as well as providing it food and care.

Officials with Animal Rescue Fund wish to remind residents that there are other options for unwanted animals besides abandonment.

More details about ARF and the reward may be obtained by phoning 718-3826.
