Dorothy Hulda (Brower) Wheeler, 99, of Colon, MI died at her residence on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. She was born January 2, 1914 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Henry and Hulda (Burglund) Brower. She was a prize winning, accredited artist, mainly working in oils, pastels. She loved doing decopage and also making dolls. Her artistic work won 1st Place at the St. Joseph County (MI) fair, many times. She attended night school to further her art training and she studied under Norman Rockwell as well as B. Bazzue. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 50 years, Donald D. Wheeler; her siblings, Alice Petticord, Hank Brower and Melba Johnson. She is survived by her children, D. Jean (John) Myers of Lake Wells, FL; Deborah J. Kirompatic of Livonia, MI; Raymond E. Wheeler of Arizona; grandchildren, Katharine L. Erwin, Gail Haddow, Andrea Romanino, Robert, Michael and Daniel Kirompatic, Heather Elliot; 14 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. No Services locally. Her cremated remains will be buried next to her husband in Fort Custer National VA Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and or the American Diabetes Association. Elkhart (IN) Cremation Services are entrusted with arrangements.
