Betty Greashaw, 93

Betty Eilene Greashaw, age 93, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in St. Joseph County, a daughter to the late Leon and Sarah (Ultz) Decker.

Betty had been a resident of Sturgis for 49 years before moving to Findley in 1991. She moved back to Sturgis in 2007 to be near her daughter.

On June 21, 1942, she married Ervin Melvin Greashaw in Bryan, Ohio. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 2002.

She had been employed as a bookkeeper for 34 years at Weaver and Ling Implement, which became Bolen International Implement in Sturgis, from which she retired.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, oil painting, embroidery and, in her younger years, she and Ervin played for many local square dances.

Surviving are a daughter, Tamela (Mikeal) Sanford of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Chad Kielkopf, Matthew Sanford and Samantha Sanford, all of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Suzanne Kielkopf, in 1996; a brother, Harold Decker; and a sister, Marian Farrand.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hackman Family Funeral Home – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Eilene Greashaw will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1108 E. Lafayette Road, Sturgis, with the Rev. Paul Stern officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of Sturgis. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
