Merritt James (Jim) Walworth, age 80, of Centreville, passed away Thursday, August 8th, 2013 at his home. He was born in Tampa, Florida on April 25, 1933, a son of James Merritt and Maxine E.E. (Hall) Walworth. Jim graduated from Sturgis High School in 1951 and Tri State University in 1958 with his BS in Electrical Engineering. On May 22, 1951 he married Joann L. Acker in Angola, IN. She preceded him in death November 11, 2011. Jim was employed as a Professional Electrical Engineer working for 18 years at John G. Hoad Engineering in Ypsilanti retiring in 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy as a IC3 in the Korean War. Jim was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Centreville and former member of the Centreville Village council and DDA. Jim enjoyed golfing and fishing
Surviving are his daughters Kayla Sue (Clarence) Tomsic of Saline, MI, Kathy Ann (Randy) Heldt of Milan, MI, Kris Lynn (Ron) Blackwell of Whitmore Lake, MI, son James Merritt Walworth of Ypsilanti, MI, grandchildren Bradley Heldt, Kylie Strip, Christopher Naida, Kindra Morelock, Curtis Blackwell, Kasie Blackwell, great grandchildren Kirsten Heldt, Benjaman Morelock, Eli Morelock, Caroline Morelock, Kamryn Strip, Owen Strip, Matthew Naida and Anna Naida and a half brother Terry Lee Green of Nashville, TN. . He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joann and daughter in law Robin Walworth.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Centreville, MI. with Pastor David Grimm officiating. Interment of ashes will be in the Nottawa Cemetery.
