Robert Carl Robinson, age 64, of Sturgis, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2013, at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Sturgis, a son of the late William Henry and Doris Evelyn (Graham) Robinson.
Bob lived most of his life in the Sturgis area and was a longtime dedicated employee of Morgan Olson in Sturgis until health issues forced him to retire.
Bob was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of SP4.
Bob was a member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion. He enjoyed going to garage sales, professional wrestling, NASCAR and loved playing his guitar. Bob will be remembered by many for his big heart and his willingness to help others any way he could.
He is survived by a son, Robert Lee (Celestia) Robinson, of Elkhart, Ind.; three grandchildren, Jesse, Troy and Chloe; two sisters, Patricia (Marlin) Smith of Sturgis and Peg (John) Squier of Angola, Ind.; three brothers, Ronald R. Robinson of Colon, Ricky F. Robinson of Angola, Ind., and Roy William “Bill” (Sarah) Robinson of Florida; very special friends LaVonna and David Ray of Mendon; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Roy Robinson; his mother, Doris Rasler; a niece, Lois Devlin; a nephew, Howard Squier; and grandparents.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of ashes will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The Rev. Doug Carr will officiate. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
