Rosa M. Miller, age 80, of Burr Oak, passed away late Thursday evening, Aug. 22, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers.
She was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Burr Oak, a daughter of the late Levi and Hattie (Schallhorn) Hill.
Rosa was a lifelong resident of Burr Oak and a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1952.
On April 29, 1972, she married Edward J. Miller Sr. in Burr Oak.
She retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following more than 30 years of dedicated employment.
Rosa was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak. She also was a member of United Auto Workers and enjoyed fishing, raking leaves and going to garage sales.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny (Dudley) Wallman Brown of Sturgis and Phyllis (Jerry) Johnson-Bingaman of Burr Oak; two sons, Lowell Minnick of Tampa, Fla., and Clifford (Lori Annette) Minnick of Clarksville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Edward J. Miller Jr. and James Miller; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, William “Billy” Wallman; a stepdaughter, Maureen Neace; a grandson, Chip Johnson; two sisters, Doris Bennett and Eleanor Haney; and three brothers: Eugene Hill, George William Hill and Albert Hill.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Memorial services celebrating the life of Rosa Miller will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kurt Kuhlmann of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak will officiate. Burial of the ashes will follow the service at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
