Audrey M. Smith, age 73, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away late Friday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, Mich.
She was born May 24, 1940, in Sturgis, Mich., only child of the late Floyd E. and Betty J. (Hollister) Smith.
Audrey was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1958.
On June 14, 1958, she married Robert H. Smith at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church in Sturgis.
Audrey was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. For several years she delivered papers for the Sturgis Journal and the Three Rivers Commercial News.
She enjoyed camping, collecting antiques and bears, bird watching and going to garage sales. Audrey loved time spent with friends and family and she had a true love for animals.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 55 years, Robert; two sons: Douglas Smith of Pendleton, Indiana and Todd Smith of Colon; four grandchildren: Douglas Smith, II, Zachary Smith, Skylar Smith and Brandie Smith and three great grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation. A graveside service and burial will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak. The Rev. Deb Johnson of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis will officiate.
