Harold “Smitty” Smith, 88

Harold “Smitty” Smith, 88, Wildwood, FL passed away on August 21, 2013 under the loving care of his family and staff of Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, FL. Mr. Smith was born on May 29, 1925 in Bristol, Indiana. He was a retired Inspector for Three Rivers Rubber Factory in Three Rivers, Michigan and was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a seasonal resident of the area for 30 years and had recently moved to the area permanently from Michigan. Mr. Smith loved to raise and grow blueberries and had done so for over 40 years. He is survived by his children: Sharon Peterson of Breman, Indiana, Deborah (Mark) Blount of Peel, Arkansas and Harold Smith of St. Joe, Michigan; a brother: Roy Smith of Berrien, Indiana; two sisters: Pearl Cook of Arizona and Marjorie Chamberlain of Florida; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Smith and a son Lynn Smith. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice at Lane Purcell Hospice House in his loving memory.
