Leonard “Len” Albin Johnson, 86, of Three Rivers, formerly Milford, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Riverview Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 26, 1926 in Detroit the son of the late Oscar C. and Bessie (Colton) Johnson.
Leonard honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Tigers fan, loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and animals of all kinds. Len was a very artistic and charismatic man, he loved woodcarving, working with his hands and whistling a familiar tune.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Carpenter.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Beatrice (Paldan) Johnson of Three Rivers; two daughters, Nancy (Harold) Standish of Three Rivers and Beth (David) Houts of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Leonard K. Johnson of Denver, Colo. and Robert F. (Debbie) Johnson of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Matthew and Sara Houts, Spencer, Jordan and Alexa Johnson; nephew, Dr. Carson Carpenter.
A Celebration of Mr. Johnson’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at his home, 54269 Wilbur Rd., Three Rivers, with Pastor Brenda Deily officiating.
