Lucile L. Lovejoy, age 94, of Constantine, passed away Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at Three Rivers Health Hospital. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 6, 1919, a daughter of Matthew and Margaret (Schmidt) Schumacher. Lucile graduated from Middlebury High School in 1937, and later received her degree in dairy testing from Michigan State University in 1957. Lucile first married Elmer Chenoweth. On April 3, 1954 she married Glenn E. Lovejoy in Bristol, IN. He preceded her in death June 24, 2013. Lucile worked as assistant lab technician at Constantine Creamery from 1947 to 1961. She previously worked in the accounting office at Montgomery Wards in Chicago. Lucile was active in the Hillbilly and Lucky 4H clubs and enjoyed her flower garden. Most importantly she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons Don (Nancy) Chenoweth, Constantine, Glenn A. (Sandy) Lovejoy, White Pigeon, daughter Dolores (Ron) Kulp, Constantine, grandchildren, Crystal Kulp, Livonia, Stacy Lovejoy (Mike Rodefer) W. Manchester, OH, Heather (John) Boynton, Dowagiac, Jamie (Todd) Montandon, White Pigeon, Justin Kulp, Constantine, great granddaughter, Kate Montandon, several nieces and nephews. Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn Lovejoy, daughter in law Diana Chenoweth, sister, Margaret Hughes and brothers Ray, Walter, Matthew and Tom Schumacher.
Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious Services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine with Reverend Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will be at White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
