Fannie J. (Yoder) Bontrager, age 85, of Colon, passed away Oct. 1, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katie (Beechy) Helmuth. On Oct. 28, 1951, she married John Henry Yoder. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1990. on Oct. 24, 1999, she married Harry Bontrager of Yoder, Kan. He died April 8, 2007. Fannie was a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her children, five sons and three daughters, Glenn and Emma Yoder of Centreville, Alma and Pete Bontrager of Colon, Marvin and Sylvia Yoder of Colon, Vernon and Rhoda Yoder of Colon, Sylvia and Orva Miller, Topeka, Ind., John Henry Jr. and Anna Yoder of Rochester, Ind., Mary Kathryn and Joas Kauffman of Colon and Norman and Loretta Yoder of Burr Oak; 37 grandchildren; and 74 great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, Enos and Ida Mae Helmuth of Arthur, Ill., Johnny and Susie Helmuth of Millersburg, Ind., Susie and Christy Schrock of Jamesport, Mo., and Anna Cole of Hutchinson, Kan.; stepchildren, Lynn and Laverta, Merle and Anna Mae, Vernon and Arlene and Lloyd and Marcy Bontrager of Kansas. She was also preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday at the Vernon Yoder residence, 29063 M-86, Colon. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Double M Recreation Center, 59321 Nottawa Road, Centreville. Burial will be in Old Order Amish Cemetery, Centreville. Arrangements are being handled by Schipper Funeral Home of Colon.
