The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force is continuing its investigation into Wednesday’s homicide of Sturgis accountant David Locey. Meanwhile, 37-year-old Andy Brown was arraigned Thursday afternoon on a charge of embezzlement, a crime that could be connected to Locey’s murder, officials from the St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office said. Brown, a Kalamazoo resident, was formerly employed by Locey before he was fired and charged with allegedly embezzling more than $100,000 over a period from 2010 through 2012. His preliminary examination hearing is scheduled to take place Oct. 17. Locey, 70, was found dead early Wednesday at his Sherman Township office on M-66 north of Sturgis. Investigators said it appeared Locey sustained three gunshot wounds.
