James Herbert “Jim” Shively, age 91, of Three Rivers passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Bowman House. He was born in Three Rivers on March 8, 1922 the son of the late Harry W. and Agnes M. (Albrecht) Shively.
Jim spent most of his education in the Three Rivers Public Schools. He served his country in the United States (Merchant Marine) Maritime Service for more than three years during World War II, before being honorably discharged. Jim was employed at Eddy Paper Mill and then worked for many years at the Power/Boiler Plant at Kirsch Company in Sturgis, MI.
Mr. Shively was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, Louise (Shively) Beck, Wilbur H. Shively, and Benjamin F. Shively; son-in-law, Michael Swearingen.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife, Frances B. Shively, whom were united in marriage in 1942 and celebrated more than seventy years of marriage together; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn (Orlin) Roberts, of Three Rivers, and Mrs. Eloise Swearingen, of Big Rapids, MI.; two grandchildren, Kathleen (James) LaRoue, of North Carolina, and James Swearingen, of Big Rapids. A host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at the Hohner Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, Oct. 29,2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Hospice Chaplain Johnny Groda officiating.
Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.
