Barbara Ruth Talbot, age 85, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday, November 6th, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Three Rivers on March 11, 1928, a daughter of Carl and Ruth (Marvin) Huff. Barbara graduated from Mendon High School in 1945 and received her teaching certificate from Michigan State University. On June 7, 1952 Barbara married Edward “Ted” Talbot at the Methodist Church in Mendon. She began her teaching career at the Reserve Country School in Mendon and later taught at Centreville Elementary school teaching third grade. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never gave up her teaching instincts always reading and writing with her children, insisting on speaking correctly. Her devotion to education earned her the nickname “Grammar Talbot”. Barbara also loved to keep track of her former students staying in touch with many of them through school reunions.
Surviving are her husband Ted Talbot, Centreville, sons Stewart Talbot of Dowling, MI, Michael (Judith) Talbot of Three Rivers, Thomas (Sherry) Talbot of Mendon, Brian (Cheng Keow) Talbot of Deerfield, IL, Kevin (Lori) Talbot of Milford, MI, son in law Jeorge Fierro of Texas, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, brothers Donald (Barbara) Huff of Mendon and Gary Huff of Mendon. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Melinda Sue Fierro.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
