Doris Marie Blankenship, age 52, of Sturgis and formerly of Mendon died Saturday Nov. 9, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. She was born in Three Rivers on Dec. 6, 1960 the daughter of Benny and Marion (Davis) Blankenship and has been a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County. She graduated from Mendon High School with the Class of 1979.
Doris had been employed as a secretary at Armstrong Machine Works in Three Rivers and retired from Sturgis Tool and Die Company. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry, latch hook rug making, and sketching. She enjoyed her cats and had Garfield, Unicorn, and dolphin collections.
She is survived by her brother, David Blankenship of Mendon, and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 13, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev.
