Betty E. Warlick, age 87, of Colon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Augusta.
Betty was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Colon, Twp. a daughter to the late Raymond G. and Evalyn (Dexter) McKercher.
Betty lived most all of her life in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1948. She continued her education for 1 ½ years at the University of Michigan.
On Aug. 8, 1948, she married Arthur G. Warlick Jr. in Centreville. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1986.
Betty worked for the U.S. Postal service for 22 years in Colon, serving as Postmaster from 1975 until her retirement in 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Rice of Goodyear, Ariz., and Gina Schau and husband Steven of Augusta; son, Arthur G. (Gar) Warlick III of Sturgis; grandchildren, Ammi Rice, Alana Clemmer, Alisha Graber, Kyle, Jason and Katie Schau; one great-grandson, Kaden Clemmer; two sisters, Marjorie Adams of Mendon and Rose Jackson of Fennville; brother Bruce McKercher of Colon and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Blanche Wood and Pearl Brown; and brother, Richard McKercher.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.
A memorial service will then be held at 11 a.m. with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Betty to the Colon Historical Society or the Colon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
