Delbert Cole, 83

Delbert Junior Cole, 83, of Constantine, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare Center. Delbert was born in Fabius Township on Sept. 20, 1930 the son of Delbert L. and Ethel O. (Stephenson) Cole.

Delbert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for two years before his honorable discharge. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Three Rivers, where he served as Sacristan for many years.

Delbert’s first love was his Ham Radio, Operator Number N8JTE, which he was very active on and would talk with his “Breakfast Club” every morning at 4 a.m. He also loved to frequent his favorite restaurants, which included Dad’s Place, The Dairy Bar, Matt and Mikes, and Rachel’s formerly Wilson’s, in White Pigeon. Delbert made many lasting friendships during his time here.

Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ellen Cole, Kyra (Walter) Tokarski, Dorothy M. Cole, A. Juanita (Harold) Anderson, Ruth (Kenneth) Brooks.

Delbert leaves to cherish his loving memory one brother, George L. Cole of Constantine; many nieces and nephews, and one very special friend, Sarah Mercer of Three Rivers; as well as many other friends too numerous to mention.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Mathew Manalel as celebrant assisted by Deacon Bart Connelly.

Interment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. following services.
