Rosemary Weirich, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2013, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Richmond, Ind., a daughter of the late Paul and Sarah (Berry) Brenneman.
Rosemary resided in Sturgis for several years before her husband’s employment moved them to Dallas, Baltimore, Atlanta, Georgia and Pittsburgh. Upon their retirement, they lived in Florida until 1991, when they returned to Sturgis.
On July 5, 1947, she married Robert L. “Knobby” Weirich in Angola, Ind. He died Dec. 31, 2006.
Most of Rosemary’s working life was involved in the banking business. She retired as a trustee at Union National Bank in Pittsburgh.
Rosemary was an active member of Sturgis Church of Christ and enjoyed playing cards especially pinochle, bridge and Uno. She also enjoyed quilting, needlework, cross-stitch and was a talented gardener. Rosemary truly loved her two cats, Gracie and Shadow.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth (Al) Carter of New Port Richie, Fla., and Patti Weirich of Conway, Pa.; two sons, Dane (Cinda) Weirich of Sturgis and Barry Weirich of Butler, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Douglas Weirich; a granddaughter, Jennifer Weirich; and a brother, Earl R. Brenneman.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. A funeral service celebrating the life of Rosemary Weirich will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sturgis Church of Christ in Sturgis. Pastor George Cleverley will officiate. In accordance with Rosemary’s wishes, cremation will follow the funeral service. Private burial of the ashes will take place at a later date at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
