The parents of a 12-year-old boy who died following a southwestern Michigan crash where his 14-year-old friend was behind the wheel say the two had had sneaked out in the middle of the night for a joy ride. The Cass County sheriff’s department says the 14-year-old boy was speeding along a snow-slicked road about 2 a.m. Tuesday in Milton Township when he lost control of the car and struck a tree. Passenger Adrian M. Chiquito of Niles died in the crash. Adrian’s father Kevin Waldrop tells WOOD-TV the boys “made a stupid decision.” The sheriff’s department said both boys were wearing seat belts and emergency crews took the 14-year-old driver to Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind. The hospital says it can’t give any information on the boy’s condition. (AP)
