Lore Oman, 78

Lore Anna Oman, age 78, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Sunday afternoon January 5, 2014 at her home.

She was born January 5, 1936 in Lansing, Michigan daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Shumann) Frueh.

Lore resided in Sturgis since 1956 coming from Lansing. On October 6, 1956 she married James Oman in Sturgis.

She retired in 1991 from the Michigan Employment Security Commission following over 15 years of employment. Before joining the MESC she worked at Freeman Manufacturing in Sturgis for several years.

She was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized August 6, 1952.

She is survived by her husband: James; one son: Michael (Janelle) Oman of Sturgis; one daughter: Lisa (David) Chamness of Simpsonville, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Michael Chamness, Katherine Chamness, William Chamness, James (Emily) Oman, Ben (Jesse) Oman and Lydia Oman; two great grandchildren: Rylin Oman and Kendell Oman; one step-sister: Laura Hassing of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sturgis. Mr. Tom Shultz will officiate. Burial of the ashes will take place at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak at a later date.
