Martha Fitch, 89

Martha Ellen Fitch, age 89, of Three Rivers, passed away early Friday morning, January 10, 2014 at the Bowman House in Three Rivers. Martha was born on January 7, 1925, the daughter of the late John Daniel and Nellie Ann (Mader) Luther.

Mrs. Fitch has been a long time resident of Three Rivers. She married the love of her life, Mr. Raymond Fitch on Sept. 28, 1946. Together they raised three wonderful children. Martha was very active as a 4-H Leader, Sheriff’s Posse Auxiliary, St. Joseph Valley Credit Union board member, avid volunteer at E.C.N. (Emergency Care Network) and the Civitan Club. Martha was an avid reader, and loved to bake and do needle point. She most enjoyed being out and about and spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond Fitch; one sister, Marybelle, one grandson, John Garfield, and son-in-law, Bill Palma.

Martha leaves to cherish her loving memory, three children, Rich (Debbie) Fitch, of Three Rivers; Sharon Palma, of Grand Rapids, MI., and Sandra (Larry) Gigax, of Archbold, OH.; one brother, Oscar “Dean” (Maggie) Luther, of Evansville, IN.; grandchildren, Karl (Michelle), Sherry (Eric), Erik (Natalia), Rachel, Michelle, Laurence, Laurie, Alexander and Michelle. Sixteen great-grandchildren and one very special friend, Mr. Duane Sadler, of Three Rivers.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Pastor Karleen Kinker officiating.

Interment will be held in Moorepark Cemetery.
