Kenneth Staffen, 79

Kenneth Leroy Staffen, age 79, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Three Rivers Health following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 7, 1934 in Schoolcraft, MI., the son of Clive and Mildred (Barber) Staffen.

Mr. Staffen has been a life time resident of Three Rivers. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon returning, Ken was united in marriage to Mrs. Caroline (Drayer) Staffen in 1956 in Three Rivers.

Mr. Staffen was employed for over forty years at the Fonda Corporation as a machinist before retiring. He belonged to the Three Rivers Eagles #2303. He enjoyed woodworking and researching family history and genealogy.

Mr. Staffen was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kurk C. Staffen in 1973, and one brother, Richard Staffen.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Caroline Staffen, of Three Rivers; one son, Timothy and Julie(Surbeck)Staffen and their son, Landon Kenneth Staffen; of Three Rivers; two brothers, Lyle Staffen and Leroy Reed; three sisters, Norma Berry, Linda Kauffman, and Wendy Sutton. Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Brooks officiating.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, MI.
