Eugene Bagley, 80

F. Eugene Bagley, 80, of Colon, and formerly of Van Wert, Ohio, died 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

He was born April 30, 1933, in Van Wert, Ohio, a son of Floyd Everett and Helen M. (Bricker) Bagley.

On May 18, 1952, he married Joanne Edwards at Trinity E.U.B. Church in Van Wert.

He was retired from Federal Mogul in Van Wert and also was employed in farming. He was a member of Colon United Methodist Church. He served on the Van Wert City Council for 22 years from 1970-1992, and was Van Wert city mayor from 1992-1999. He was a former member of Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Van Wert Men’s Garden Club and Willow Bend Country Club.

Surviving are his mother; his wife; three sons, David E. (Susan) Bagley of Antwerp, Ohio, Stephen K. (Nina) Bagley of Columbus, Ohio, and Ric R. (Debra) Bagley of Elida, Ohio; two brothers, James D. (Sara) Bagley of Sarasota, Fla., and Ronald R. (Linda) Bagley of Van Wert; three sisters, J. Coleen (Ray) Etzler of Van Wert, Diane (Larry) Webb of Van Wert and Janell (Paul Leslie) Boroff of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Trisha (James) Fuller, Ashley (Calvin) Bissell, Ryan (Kayla) Bagley, Justin Bagley and Kelsey Bagley; and seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Camden and Brayden Fuller, Briley, Hudsyn and Carter Bagley, and Conley Bissell.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, Ohio, with Pastor Clark W. Williman officiating.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, Ohio, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to West Michigan Cancer Center in Kalamazoo.
