Applicants for superintendent

Four principals, a superintendent and two curriculum directors made the first cut for the job of superintendent of Colon Community Schools.

The district last week narrowed its field of 19 applicants to eight people, though one withdrew her candidacy. The position will offer a base salary of between $95,000 and $105,000 annually.

Board of education president Ernie Baker said he expects the field to be trimmed to three finalists after the seven are interviewed March 10 and 11. All interviews will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. in a public forum at Colon High School.

The candidates, their community of residence and current job title are as follows:

*Drew Bordner, Richland, director of curriculum and instruction.

*Victor Bungi, Gladstone, curriculum and instruction supervisor.

*Mike Campbell, Mattawan, elementary principal.

*Mike Corey, Mesick, superintendent.

*Pam Duffy, Grand Rapids, K-8 principal.

*Robert Jansen, Bloomfield Hills, K-6 principal.

*Eric Kistler, Osceola, Ind., middle school principal.

Baker said he expects each interview to last about 45 minutes.

Board member Deb Bordner said she will recuse herself of the interview with her son, Drew.
