Richard Lee “Dick” Shingledecker, age 70, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2014 following a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1943 in Three Rivers, the son of Forrest and Dorothy (Nedham) Shingledecker.
Dick graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1963. He worked with his father at the Shingledecker Dairy Farm until moving to Three Rivers in 1985 where Dick began work for the Three Rivers Community Schools until retiring after 25 years of service. Following his retirement Dick enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels for several years.
Mr. Shingledecker was a former member of the Three Rivers Moose Lodge #474, Three Rivers Elks Lodge #1248, Three Rivers Eagles #2303 and the First United Methodist Church. Dick loved to attend Truck and Tractor Pulls, spending time with family and friends around the campfire, trips to Lake Michigan, and especially spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren.
Mr. Shingledecker was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Forrest Shingledecker Jr., and one sister, Betty Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife Betty Shingledecker, of Three Rivers; daughters, Janet (Skip) Kendall, of Little Rock, AR., and Susan (Michael) Grear, of Lawton, MI.; three sons, John (Nicole) Medsker, of Kalamazoo, MI., James (Shelley) Medsker, of Lawton, MI., and Randy (Drew Knecht) Shingledecker, of Chicago, IL.; one sister Patsy Kuhlman, of Mendon, MI.; twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Gunderson of New Hope Fellowship Church officiating.
