Roland L. Oldenberg Jr., age 44, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2014, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Sept. 9, 1969, in Three Rivers, a son of the late Roland L. and Susan (Warner) Oldenberg.
Roland had been a St. Joseph County resident his entire life.
On Sept. 3, 1993, he married Nancy Miller in Centreville.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roland is survived by his wife, Nancy Oldenberg of Sturgis; a son, Brenden (Fiancée Elizabeth Upp) Oldenberg of Sturgis; a daughter, Brooke Oldenberg of Sturgis; stepchildren Michael Miller of Indiana and Amanda Sawyer of Sturgis; an adopted son, Gary Ferguson of Sturgis; grandchildren Kayla, Hannah, Bella and Eli; father-in-law Terry Miller of Tennessee; step-father-in-law and mother-in-law, Danny and Sandy Daugherty of Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Tonya Miller of Kentucky and their children, Justin, Kyle and Brandice Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. A memorial service will directly follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. James Bender officiating. The Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
