Freida Yoder, 82

Yoder obitFreida Fern Yoder, age 82, of Burr Oak, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014, at her home.

She was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Port Huron, a daughter of the late Chester and Bertha (Koehn) Casner Sr.

Freida resided in Burr Oak since 1955. Her early life was lived in Port Huron. On April 21, 1951, she married William Henry Yoder in Port Huron. He died July 7, 2013.

Freida was employed by Burr Oak Rubber Products, Sturgis Register Company, Transogram Company. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Sturgis and enjoyed ceramics, artex, camping, mushrooming hunting in northern Michigan and served as a 4-H leader for many years.

She is survived by three sons, William Yoder of Burr Oak, Dennis (Sue) Yoder of Sturgis and Randall (Lorie) Yoder of Burr Oak; five grandchildren, Daryn, Timothy, Fawn, Terren and Sarah; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Boyle; a sister, Esther Bishop; and twin brothers, Chester and Frederick Casner.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Freida Fern Yoder will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Community Bible Church, 223 N. Maple St. in Sturgis. Pastor Steve Wisler will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the services. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.

The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Yoder’s memory consider Community Bible Church, 223 N. Maple St., Sturgis.
