Glen J. Glessner, age 81, of Three Rivers passed away peacefully Thursday evening April 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Three Rivers on July 29, 1932 the son of the late Edwin and Mary (Lambert) Glessner.
Mr. Glessner graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1950. On July 25, 1953 he married the love of his life Mrs. Evelyn J. (Kahler) Glessner. Glen graduated from Western Michigan University and was employed as an engineer for Triple S. Plastics. He served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Michigan National Guard for over thirteen years and was awarded Michigan Soldier of the Year in 1956.
Mr. Glessner was a member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and high school sports. Glen also enjoyed playing the coronet during high school and also for one year at Western Michigan University.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 60 years Evelyn J. Glessner, of Three Rivers; one son, Mark (Kimberly) Glessner, of Jones; two daughters, Barbara (Tim) Cutler-Swartz, of Kalamazoo, and Marcy (James) Hendress, of Edwardsburg; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m . on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Private burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
