Mrs. Julia Haldy, age 90, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 1st, 2014 at The Sunshine Care Home. She was born on March 17, 1924 in Three Rivers, the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Maria (Coppo) Gherna.
Julia has been a lifelong resident of Three Rivers. On Sept. 25, 1948 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Mr. Edmund C. Haldy. Together they spent sixty-three wonderful years raising five children. Julia was a homemaker and a great cook, her specialties being Ravioli and Spaghetti. She was an avid reader and loved her politics. She was a faithful and active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She truly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was ever present in their lives until her illness.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed in 2011; brother, Joseph Gherna, sister, Theresa Fackler; great-granddaughter, Erica Abigail Rohrer and son-in-law, Michael Barrone.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, three daughters, Mary Barrone, Anne Rohrer, and Sara (Rick) Daniels, all of Three Rivers; two sons, Carl (Mary) Haldy, of Colorado, and James Haldy, of Three Rivers; sister, Mary I. Gilbert; seven grandchildren, Wade (Lisa), Owen (Angie), and Clay (Onya) Rohrer, Heather (Jeff) Mihills, Megan (Aldo) Haldy-Vasquez, Katie (Brian) Keogh, and Ross (Emily) Daniels; thirteen great-grandchildren, Brandon and Joshua Rohrer, Joseph Edmund, Ryan and Matthew Rohrer, Tyler, Sophia, and Lillian Rohrer, Grace, Rachel, and Nathan Mihills, Tyler Vasquez and Trevor Haldy-Keogh, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home with a Scripture Service starting at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9th, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Manalel as celebrant.
Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery.
Julia’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of the compassionate caregivers at the Sunshine Care Home and also to Laura, Arlene and Shelley.
