Mahler obitErma V. Mahler, 89, formerly of Mishawaka, Indiana, died Saturday in Three Rivers. The South Bend, Indiana native was born Sept. 9, 1924 to Baziel and Emily (Talboon) Vlaeminck. Erma retired from Taylor Products after 32 years of employment and was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliaries of the V.F.W.; D.A.V.; American Legion; AMVETS and the Ladies of the Moose. She was active in the Harvest Basket and also Friendly Pioneers, both in Elkhart, Indiana, and she also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Richard Mahler; infant son, David; grandchildren, Stacey Alwine and Dean & Richard Brogdon. Erma is survived by her son, William (Cheryl) Rouch of Three Rivers; daughters, Barbara Brogdon of Mishawaka, Indiana; Sharon (James) Scanlon of Washington, Pennsylvania; Donna (Fred) Lightner of Elkhart, Indiana; her brother, Julius (Donna) Vlaeminck of Elkhart, Indiana; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
