Raymond Lee Jacobs, 92, of Portage, MI, passed away Friday, May 9th, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born in Middlebury, IN on March 16, 1922, a son of William and Edith (Gray) Jacobs.
On Dec. 31, 1941 he married Dorothy Gest in Napoleon, OH. She preceded him on October 8, 1996.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
Raymond worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union #525 Kalamazoo, for 35 yrs. He also worked maintenance at Viking RV in Centreville until he retired and also did some farming. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legions in Portage & Three Rivers and also enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering on mowers & bikes. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Raymond is survived by sons William Jacobs, Three Rivers, Steven Jacobs, Constantine, James (Cindy) Jacobs, Sturgis, brothers, Clifford, Dick & David Jacobs, sisters, Mildred Walker, June Ruggles & Marie Cole, grandchildren, Ronnie, Allen, Billy, Stephanie, Shannon, Michael, Joseph, Amanda, Joshua, Cody & Brandon, 17 great grandchildren, several great great granchildren, special family, Jacqueline Bambacht, Dian Bambacht, John (Nancy) Bambacht, Dennis Bambacht, Kenneth (Kim) Bambacht and Kathlene and 8 special grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Raylene Lindsley, 9 brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville on Monday May 12 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 14th, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Evans of New Beginnings Church officiating.
