Man injured in single vehicle crash

Two White Pigeon men were involved in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday in White Pigeon Township.

State police said Christopher Shuman, 19, was driving westbound around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday on Indian Prairie Road when he lost control of his SUV, crossed over the centerline and off the roadway. In correcting the situation, Shuman returned to the proper lane but the vehicle went into a skid and rolled multiple times near South Kalamazoo Street.

Shuman was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital with serious injuries. He was reported in stable condition. A passenger, a 20-year-old whose gender was not indicated in a department media release, sustained only minor injuries and declined medical aid.

Alcohol was not a factor and the two were apparently headed to work, investigators said.
