Charles L. “Sonny” Armstrong, 70, of White Pigeon, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Centreville following an extended illness.
He was born on May 16, 1944 in Wisconsin the son of Whitford and Anna (Stark) Armstrong. He was a resident of Three Rivers, Marcellus and White Pigeon areas and a graduate of Three Rivers High School. He retired from American Axle in Three Rivers. A member of the Three Rivers Eagles, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, dachshund dogs, all Detroit sports teams, mostly spending time with his grandchildren.
He was married to Doris Rae Wright who preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Scott (Bethany) Armstrong of Three Rivers; four grandchildren, Scotty, Zoe, Toby and Sophie Armstrong; two brothers, Jack (Pam) Armstrong of Three Rivers and Bob (Vickie) Armstrong of Bowling Green, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father; wife; sister, Linda Knauss.
His mother, Anna Armstrong, survives.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. — 1 p.m. Monday, July 14 at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Manning of the United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers. Donations may be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research.
