Three Rivers man arraigned on charges

A former teacher in Constantine and Three Rivers has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct.

David D. Wing, 59, of Three Rivers, also faces a charge of child sexually abusive activity.

All charges are felony offenses.

Wing was arraigned Monday afternoon by magistrate Ryan Smith following his arrest Saturday at his King Street residence.

According to a court affidavit, Wing during an unspecified date in 2014 allegedly allowed a 16-year-old child to engage in a sexually abusive activity for the purpose of producing child sexually abusive material.

The CSC incidents, which are all second degree, allegedly occurred in 2008 and 2009 in the first case, June 2014 in the second case and July 4 in the third case.

A pre-exam conference was set for July 22; a preliminary exam was scheduled for July 24.

Wing is being represented by Three Rivers attorney Ron Grubbs.

He is in the St. Joseph County Jail with bond set at $100,000.

Wing taught fourth grade at Riverside Elementary in Constantine from 2006 to 2013. He previously taught at the elementary level in Three Rivers for nine years. Before that, he was principal at a middle school in Hillsdale and previously at an elementary school in Marcellus.

Constantine Public Schools plans to issue a media release today.

Given the chance to make a statement or ask a question Monday, Wing declined.
