Evelyn Griffin, 83

Evelyn Griffin, 83, of Constantine, Mich., died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at ThurstonWoods Village in Sturgis, Mich., following an extended illness.

She was bornMarch 15, 1931, in Jasper, Ala., the daughter of Louis and Willie (Gradey) Hyche.

She was a resident of Constantine for 50 years, coming fromMottville, Mich. She married Leon Griffin onMay 22, 1947, in Jasper, Ala.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and motorcycle trips with her husband. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Constantine.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Griffin of Constantine; four daughters, Brenda (Bob) Price of White Pigeon; Joyce (Gary) Price of Constantine; Sandra (Larry) Comstock of LaGrange, Ind.; Shirley (Dennis) Holtzinger ofMiddlebury, Ind.; two sons, Dan (Jean) Griffin of Bristol, Ind., and Randy (Nancy) Griffin of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 15 great­grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, IllaMae Griffin, Katie Edie; brother, Vernon (Edith) Hyche of Goshen, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, LillyMae Hyche and Vernell Odom; four brothers, Johnnie, Thomas, Roy and James Hyche; and her parents.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, where services are at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Rudy Grantham of the Bible Baptist Church in Constantine officiating. Interment will take place in Constantine Township Cemetery.
