Special passport processing dates

As part of Passport Awareness Month, St. Joseph County Clerk and Register of Deeds Pattie Bender has set up special hours three days later this month to process passport requests.

Bender said processing will be available 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday next week and again Sept. 17. A Saturday processing opportunity will be offered 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 27.

The processing will take place in the Register of Deeds office, located next door to the clerk’s office on the main floor of the county courthouse.

Bender said staff will be able to take passport photos, as well.

Passports cost $110 for adults and $80 for children 16 years and younger. A check or money order are the only permissible forms of payment and must be made out to the Department of State.

In addition, there is a $25 processing fee, payable in cash, by credit card or by check made out to the St. Joseph County Register of Deeds.

Photos, if needed, are $6.
