Walter Sult, 96, of Sturgis, passed away Friday, September 19th, at his home. He was born in Wolcottville, IN, June 18, 1918, a son of William and Minnie (Cripe) Sult. On October 18, 1941 he married Helen Mishler in Elkhart. She preceded him in death August 24, 2000. On July 11, 2001 Walt married Dorothy Arnold in Constantine. Walt owned and operated his Dairy Farm in Centreville for many years and sold lots at Lake Templene for 30 years. He also worked at Hosicks Bakery Elkhart and at Lingood RV in White Pigeon. Walt served in the US Army during WW II as a cook in the Philippines, Luzon and New Guinea, and was a member of the Sturgis VFW and Three Rivers American Legion. He was a member of the Centreville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Arnold Sult, daughter, Mary Alice (Bill) DeRoche, FL; sons Ronald (Nancy) Sult, Three Rivers; Robert Sult, Three Rivers; step children Beverly (Larry) Slaughter, Elkhart; Carole (Paul) Schumacher, White Pigeon; June Breth, Constantine, William (Ann) Arnold, Constantine, 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Helen Sult, daughter in law Vickie Sult, 8 brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where Religious Services will be held 11 AM Monday with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Interment will be at Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville.
