Eugene Bruno Bolz, age 81, of Three Rivers, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at New Friends Community in Kalamazoo. He was born in Chicago on July 29, 1933 the son of the late Bruno A. and Irene M. (Hopkins) Bolz. Following World War II the family came to Mendon where Eugene graduated from Mendon High School with the Class of 1951. He attended Western Michigan University and served in the U.S. Army. Eugene worked for the Haas Corporation which later became Lear Plastics for over forty eight years. He was also the co-founder of Quiet Time Marine near Fishers Lake. Eugene enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his annual trip to Canada. He served on the Mendon School Board, and was an avid Mendon Football and Sports Booster.
Eugene is survived by his son, Phil (Laurene) Bolz of Three Rivers; daughter, Lori Bolz-Johnson (Dr. Brent) of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Philip Bolz Jr. and Sara Bolz; his companion, Marena Kuratko and her children, Mindy (Greg) Shutes and Cari (Mike) Marzolf; her grandchildren, Anna, Olivia, and Russell Shutes, and Elsa, Ian, and Owen Marzolf.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 11, 2014 the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Rev. Marty Culver, Pastor of the Center Park United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
