A major public works project in White Pigeon Township will be showcased during an open house Wednesay.
The $3.1 million undertaking at the township’s wastewater-treatment plant started in June 2012, when the first of its two wastewater lagoons was drained, sludge removed, and a new aeration system and new liners installed.
That project was finished late in the year before the same work started on the second lagoon and concluded in July 2013.
In addition to checking out the new-look lagoons, participants will have a chance to tour the building in which the waste-treatment plant operates.
Township supervisor Don Gloy said he hopes to see a good turnout during the open house, to be staged 2 to 5 p.m.
The system benefits residents in White Pigeon Township – including all of Klinger Lake – the village of White Pigeon, and residents of Fish and Stone lakes in LaGrange County, Ind.
