About 75 people representing nearly two dozen entities attended a by-invitation-only gathering prior to the general public’s turn to tour the White Pigeon Township Wastewater Treatment Plant Wednesday..
Township Supervisor Don Gloy said the gathering of invited guests provided an opportunity to discuss the plant and elaborate on details of its $3.1 million upgrade of its treatment lagoons. The two-year project was completed in the summer of 2013.
Gloy said he emphasized how the wastewater treatment plant upgrade was the result of a positive partnership with the village of White Pigeon, as well as officials in LaGrange County, where Fish and Stone lakes are serviced by the White Pigeon facility.
It also takes in waste from Klinger Lake properties.
The plant takes in an average of 187,000 gallons of waste a day and has the unit equivalency of 1,700 customers.
