Amy Lee Gest, age 40, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 8th, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 1, 1974 in Sturgis, MI. the daughter of Richard and Connie (Ecker) Batten.
Amy graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1993. She has been employed for the last ten years at Three Rivers Health where she earned many lasting friendships and was greatly admired for her care and compassion.
On June 26, 2010 Amy was united in marriage to Mr. Jeff Gest at St. John’s Lutheran Church, of which she and Jeff were faithful members. Together they shared many happy times kayaking, boating, traveling to the cottage in Benzie County, gardening, music, and rock hunting, finding the very special “Pudding Stones”. She and Jeff often enjoyed an Oberon on their deck listening to rainfall or watching the sunset. Amy was a member of the Three Rivers Elks Lodge #1248. She had a special love of animals, especially her dog, “Chloe Dancer Gest”, and her family whom she cherished and loved and who will greatly miss her.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Jeff Gest, of Three Rivers; parents, Richard and Connie Batten, of Sturgis; two brothers, Archie Batten and Abe (Hannah) Batten, both of Sturgis; mother-in-law, Margo (Larry) Klein, of Three Rivers; father-in-law, William (Darlene) Gest, of Sturgis; two very special nephews, Isaiah and Noah.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 12th, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 56050 Buckhorn Rd., Three Rivers, MI. 49093
A celebration of Amy’s Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 13th, 2014 also at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Karleen Kinker officiating.
