The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners has agreed to return to staging its committee of the whole meetings twice a month.
The five-member panel last month decided to assemble at 8 a.m. the Wednesday before its twice-a-month board meetings. The committee of the whole meetings starting in January this year were held just once a month, prior to the commission’s second board meeting of the month.
Commissioner Rick Shaffer suggested going back to meeting twice a month, which will begin this month.
There will be an exception right away, however, as only one committee of the whole meeting will take place in December.
During committee of the whole meetings, commissioners typically hash out details and engage in extended discussion on items that subsequently appear on the agenda of the full board.
