Mendon will battle Muskegon Catholic Central in football playoffs

Regional football action is on tap this weekend, as the Mendon Hornets are the only local team still in the state playoffs.
The 10-and-1 Hornets will travel to Muskegon to take on undefeated Catholic Central in a 1 p.m. showdown Saturday. The Crusaders are 11-and-0 and have won each of their games by an average of 41 points this season.
The teams have met in the playoffs five times in the past seven years. MCC has a 3-games-to-two advantage in those five meetings, including two in a row at Mendon dating to last year and 2012.
The winner will move on to the Division 8 Final Four and play the victor of Saturday’s Morenci at Harbor Beach contest.
