Vernon H. Wadsworth, age 88, of Three Rivers, formerly of Centreville, MI, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his home. Vern was born in White Pigeon on May 19, 1926, a son of Lowell and Aletha (Hammond) Wadsworth. He served in the US Navy during WWII. On July 20, 1946, Vern married Barbara J. Snook in LaGrange, IN. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1997.
Vern attended Centreville Schools with the class of 1945 where he received his honorary military graduate diploma. He worked as a factory supervisor at Peterson American in Kalamazoo for 39 years, retiring in 1987. Vern enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, was a life member of the Three Rivers American Legion, V.F.W. Post of Centreville and Mendon, and the Three Rivers Elks Lodge.
Vern is survived by daughters Rebecca (Terry) Barnes of Lansing and Marcia (Mervin) Miller of Sturgis; brother Keith (Leota) Wadsworth of Zephyer Hills, FL; grandchildren Kenneth (Mary) Barnes of Lansing, Patrick (Tamara) Miller of Troy, Gregory (Vicky) Miller of Sturgis, Mark Miller of Centreville, Kristi (Doug) Troyer of Middlebury; 10 great-grandchildren; and his long time companion Beverly Burnham of Centreville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and followed by his sister Uldeen Henry on November 23, 2014.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services celebrating Vern’s life will be held at Centreville United Methodist Church at 11 AM Friday with Pastor Emily Beachy officiating. Interment will be at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Centreville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Eley Funeral Home in Centreville.
