Nearly 1,400 new direct and indirect jobs, and more than $37 million in new investment were a few of the economic benefits provided to St. Joseph County through Southwest Michigan First in 2014.
The highlights, detailed during Tuesday’s St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting, were presented by Ken Jones of Kalamazoo-based Southwest Michigan First.
Through the first 11 months this year, more than 2,500 jobs were retained and 19 company announcements were made in St. Joseph County, Jones said. He went on to mention a number of companies that made notable investments this year, including: Sturgis Molded Products, Team Manufacturing and Supply in Three Rivers, Michigan Milk Producers in Constantine, Filter Byproducts Corporation in White Pigeon, Abbott Labs in Sturgis and Ox Paperboard in Constantine.
Jones said there are 23 projects in various stages to be potentially located in St. Joseph County.
