Jimmy Skipper, 81

DadJimmy Dale Skipper, age 81, of Vandalia, MI died Saturday, December 27, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born August 28th, 1933 in Leachville, Arkansas, a son of Virgil Noah and Martha Elaine (Rhodes) Skipper.  He married Erma Lee Carmack on November 24th, 1955.

Jimmy served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  He was employed at Federal Paper Board Co. for over 35 years.  He served as president of Teamsters Local 1049 from 1962 to 1991 when he retired.  He served on the Indiana Conference of Teamsters as recording secretary, board of directors of United Way, Board of Directors of United Labor Agency & Central States Conference.

Surviving are his wife Erma Skipper; one daughter, Elaine Skipper-Leister (Brian “Chip”) of Vandalia, MI; two grandsons, Tyler Leister of Vandalia, Michigan; Lewis (Melissa) Leister  of Union, MI; two brothers, U.L. (JoAnn) of Elkhart, IN  and States (Myra) of Sparta, MO.  He was preceded in death by son, Brady Trent Skipper; daughter, Telera Rene’ Skipper; his parents; five brothers, Herman, Carl, Lyman, Billie, and Donald; and two sisters, Mary and Donna Sue.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 30th at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine, Michigan from 3 to 6 p.m.  Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 31st at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill St., Union, Michigan at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be in the Shavehead Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Chapel Hill Youth Group.
