The November unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by half a percent compared to a month earlier.
The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed St. Joseph County’s 4.1 percent November unemployment rate was less than October’s 4.6 percent.
November’s unemployment rate was 2.6 percent less than the same month in 2013, when the figure was 6.7 percent.
St. Joseph County remained below the state unemployment average, which was 5.7 percent in November.
The agency said seasonal hiring in the retail and trade sectors contributed to the region’s November unemployment decrease rate.
At 5.4 percent, Hillsdale County had the region’s highest unemployment rate in November, while Barry County had the lowest, with 3.8 percent.
